Gannon Dunn just wanted to relax. At 42, newly divorced, and looking to start fresh, he retired early from his high-paying corporate job in Chicago and moved up north to one of his favorite vacation spots. Traverse City, Michigan, with its vast natural beauty, friendly people, and two peninsulas full of wineries, was the perfect place—in Dunn’s mind—to begin the next chapter of his life.
But this easy-going northern resort town has its secrets. After witnessing a crime during a sailing lesson, Dunn realizes that Traverse City isn’t always as it seems. Alongside him at the scene is Missy Marlowe, a plucky young sailing instructor who can’t let the crime go. Just as the city has its secrets, so does Missy, and Dunn soon finds himself in far deeper waters than he ever expected to be.
Now, at Missy’s insistence, the two form a budding partnership as they try to unravel this small-town mystery. Dunn’s reluctance to get involved only feeds Missy’s desire to figure it out. And, as Dunn discovers, there’s a lot more to this crime—and to this city—than he ever thought possible.
